Do you already hold an accredited ESL teaching certification, but you never received any practical classroom teaching experience as part of your ESL training? 

 

You may qualify to register for our 40-hour teaching practicum certificate as a stand-alone certificate.  This certificate is currently only available face-to-face in Penang and takes 2 - 4 weeks to complete.

Why get TESOL certified in Penang?
 

Studying face-to-face at myTESOL gives you direct access to our students and teachers at our language centre.  You will be able to observe trained teacher in real classroom settings.  When you are ready, you will be able to co-teach and lead teach lessons yourself.  ​Penang also provides a convenient gateway to other Southeast Asia countries to explore and discover exciting teaching opportunities!

​The full 160-hour course typically takes 12 - 14 weeks to complete. If you are not able to come to Penang, we do offer on-line training, or a hybrid mix option but you will be limited to take the 120-hour certificate which does not include the teaching practicum if you are not based in Penang.

​

A hybrid option is to complete units 1 - 9 from anywhere in the world virtually, then come to beautiful Penang Malaysia to complete unit 10 and your teaching practicum.  This is a wonderful step into SE Asia and once you complete your 160-hour TESOL certificate you will be ready to seek employment in the region.  While the course fees do not include costs to stay in Penang, Penang English Academy can help connect you with places to stay or host families if that is your preference.  You would need to plan to be here for 2 - 4 weeks to complete unit 10 and the 40-hour teaching practicum here in Penang.
