Workshop Overview

This interpersonal communication workshop has been specifically designed for students to
gain the skills necessary to become accomplished presenters. The instruction is interactive based
that allows for participants to first learn what is required to craft well-structured speeches and
presentations, and then how to effectively deliver them in a manner that captivates the listener’s
attention. It is highlighted, three different speaking exercises will be assigned for individual
deliveries to be assessed thereafter in order to identify the speaker’s strengths and areas
which may need to be improved. Upon the workshop concluding, it is intended participants will
have learned how to effectively deliver a speech, but more importantly know how to self-
improve and continually develop their overall communication abilities!

Workshop Length and schedule

This is a 10-lesson workshop with each class being 75 minutes.

Dr. Longo can schedule this workshop to meet the needs of the group.

Choose from weekdays after school, weekends, 1 day each week or 2 days each week.

The workshop focuses on the following main areas of instruction:

1) The Purpose and Power of Communicating Effectively
2) Understanding the Creative Process and its Connection with Communicating
3) Organization of Ideas and Thoughts - Structuring the Introduction, Body and Conclusion
4) Researching Methods, Evaluating Supporting Evidence and Utilizing It Persuasively
5) The Preparation, Practice and Presentation Process
6) Importance of Delivery – Appearance, Body Language and Voice Tonality
7) Power Point and Group Presenting
8) Developing Confidence and Professionalism

The three (3) speaking exercises involve the following:

* Impromptu/Informal Delivery (speaking on topics with limited or no preparation)
* Guest Speaker Introduction
* Informative/Persuasive Presentation in a TED Talk style

 

Workshop Price

RM 750 for 10 lessons

Total of 750 minutes

Minimum of 5 students needed, maximum of 8 students per workshop
